Serving Our Neighbors
Serving in missions across the world is an important part of who we are and what we are called by God to do. But, He also called us to serve our neighbor as we would ourselves. Our local community has a great need for resources and the church here in Whitney tries to serve God and our fellow man in the following ministries.
Lake whitney ministerial alliance
Whitney Church of Christ donates money, time, and resources to this group of interdenominational churches that serve much of the needs of the lakeside community who have fallen under hard conditions. From the new food bank to a thrift store, this alliance is the primary outlet for benevolence in Whitney. Visit their site by clicking the link below to learn more and to get involved.
back-to-school clothing ministry
Every year, students return to school without the basic necessities. Our community ministry to help kids get new school clothes and shoes has been going strong for nearly three decades. Applications are made available in June and clothing is dispersed in August. Families in need will be able to submit applications in person at the LWMA Food Bank in summer of 2020.
warm up whitney/trunk-or-treat
Held during the month of October, families with children in need of a coat for the winter months apply with the church for a new or gently used coat. We also have our Fall Festival at the same time and that includes a Trunk-or-Treat event that the whole family can enjoy. Bring the kids for an evening of fun!
